We have found that offering an hour a day for medical appointment or advice requests through online message allows us to provide this access route in a sustainable way. Many surrounding practices do not seem able to offer this at present. Unlike when speaking with one of our care navigation staff, it is not possible through the online route to provide an immediately updated message regarding our appointment capacity for the following days. This can be affected by clinician sickness and other commitments.

Rather than switch the system off altogether we want to be transparent about making it available for medical requests for only a short period of requesting first thing in the day and we hope this might particularly help our patients who need to set off for work in the morning. All medical appointment requests should otherwise be made by telephoning the practice on 01527 872163 and speaking to one of our trained care navigators.

The online contact point will remain open for Administrative Requests from 7am until 4pm Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays). Administrative requests include continuation of Fit Note requests, results enquiries, blood test or Nurse clinic bookings and information provision such as home blood pressure records.
