HOW DO I...
OBTAIN
TELEPHONE ADVICE?
The doctors and nurses are happy
to give advice over the telephone. If you ring at a time when the doctor or nurse
is busy, your number will be taken and they will ring you back. you may telephone NHS Direct, a 24-hour helpline, on 0845 4647 for advice on minor ailments.
HOW DO I...
OBTAIN
TEST RESULTS?
Investigation results may be obtained
over the telephone. Please ring between 2.00 and 4.00pm to avoid blocking the
telephone lines. Also, please bear in mind our confidentiality code which stipulates
that we are only able to give a result to the patient themselves or their parent/guardian.
HOW
DO I...
MAKE
AN APPOINTMENT?
Routine Appointments
Surgery times are 08.30 - 11.30am and
3.40 - 5.50pm Monday to Friday. (Please ask at reception for details of our extended hours appointments.)
Surgeries are by appointment which
may be made in advance at the reception desk or by phoning 872163. You
may consult with any doctor in the practice but it is better for you and the doctor
if you try to see the same doctor, especially for ongoing problems. This, however,
means there may be a delay between booking the appointment and actually seeing
the doctor of your choice. Please bear in mind that we are only able to see the
patient who is actually booked in for the appointment. We do not wish to cause
offence by being unable to deal with another patient's problem when they do not
have an allocated appointment.
Cancellations
If you are unable to attend,
please inform us as soon as possible so that your appointment may be given to someone
else.
Long Appointments
If you have a lot to discuss with
the doctor, please tell the receptionist who will arrange a longer appointment.
This helps to avoid delays to other patients.
Urgent
problems
An urgent problem will always be
seen on the same day by the duty doctor. If there is
a large number of urgent
patients, you may be asked to sit and wait for a little while.
Emergencies
If you have an EMERGENCY and are
unable to get through on the normal telephone number, we have a telephone reserved
exclusively for EMERGENCIES. This number is 575455 and is available during
surgery hours only. The normal surgery number (872163) should be contacted
at all other times.
HOW
DO I...
REQUEST
A HOME VISIT?
Patients are requested to telephone
the normal surgery number (872163) before 10.30am if a home visit is required
that day. Emergency visits only will be arranged after that time. Please do not
ask the doctor to call unless the patient is genuinely too ill to come to the
surgery. Please remember that several patients can be seen at the surgery in the
time it takes to do one home visit.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
PRESCRIPTIONS?
Available Monday to Friday during
surgery hours.
If you have a condition that necessitates
continued medication, the doctor will issue you with a copy of your medication
("back copy"). To order your repeat prescription please tick the items
you require on your back copy and either drop it into the surgery, post it to
us or email your request to requestprescription@nhs.net. Your prescription will then be ready for you to pick up two working days later.
We regret that we are unable to deal with prescription requests by telephone.
Patients on repeat medication will be requested to see the doctor on occasions
for re-assessment. All pharmacies in Bromsgrove will pick up prescriptions from
the surgery so that you may then collect the medication directly from the pharmacy.
Housebound patients may have their medication delivered. Please contact your pharmacy
for details.
HOW
DO I...
REGISTER
WITH THE PRACTICE?
To become a patient at the surgery,
please bring your medical card into reception. If you are unable to find your card,
a form can be completed by the receptionist with you at the reception desk. You
will then be offered an appointment for a new patient health check so that a brief
outline of your medical history and medication can be taken prior to your medical
records arriving.

DO I...
