Antenatal Care/Clinics

All doctors will provide antenatal care during normal surgery hours. After the first appointment with a doctor, this care is shared with the the community midwife and a hospital specialist if required . The midwife’s clinic is held on a Tuesday afternoon 2.00 - 4.00pm.  Appointments may be made at reception.

Asthma Clinic/COPD Clinic

This clinic is taken by nurses with extended training in asthma and overseen by Dr Pryke who has a special interest in respiratory medicine. Patients are taught how to use their inhaler devices correctly, how to control their symptoms and how to monitor their progress. 

Child Health And Immunisation

We recommend full vaccination of children. If you have any queries or concerns, please speak to your doctor or health visitor.  Appointments will be sent to you.

Child Development Checks

There is an option for development checks for pre-school children by the health visitors and a doctor at the appropriate intervals.

Diabetic Clinic

This clinic is taken by our nurses with diabetic training and medical input is provided by Dr Leci, whom works half a day a week in the hospital diabetic service also. A patient’s clinical condition is monitored and they are given appropriate advice relating to lifestyle and diet.

Flu Vaccination

These clinics are held every Autumn. We advise flu vaccination to all those over the age of 65 and to those with chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease etc.

Family Planning

A family planning session is held in the surgery every Friday.  There is a 'drop-in' clinic held 12 noon-1.00pm. There are also booked appointments 1.00-2.00pm.     

The clinic is run by a nurse and a female doctor.  All aspects of contraception are covered (oral contraceptives, emergency contraception, coils, implants, depot injections, condoms, sterilisation and natural methods). We are also very happy to offer pre-pregnancy advice.  All consultations are confidential and open to those of any age. If the time of the clinic is inconvenient, you may book to see the nurse or doctor during normal surgery. 

Health Promotion

We offer a full range of health promotion via our practice nurses and health care assistants. Services include:

• Quit Smoking Clinic - book now at reception!
• Dietary advice (weight reduction, reduce cholesterol, etc)
• Blood pressure checks
• Lifestyle advice (eg smoking, alcohol, exercise)
• Well woman and well man checks
• Cervical smears - taken by the practice nurse

Minor Surgery

All aspects of minor surgery are offered including joint injections, removal of small lumps and bumps and the insertion of hormone implants. We also run a specialised wart clinic. Please see your doctor to make the necessary arrangements.

New Patients

A new patient's records may take some time to be transferred to us from their previous surgery. To help us collect as much information about you as we can, we ask you to complete a “New Patient Questionnaire” and attend a new patient healthcheck with the health care assistant. She will take your medical and family history, check your blood pressure and urine, offer appropriate lifestyle advice and refer you to the doctor if necessary.

Non-NHS Examinations/Reports

Medical examinations for driving, insurance, pre-employment, sport and other purposes which are not part of our NHS commitment are undertaken and will be charged for.  The current rates can be provided in a leaflet from the reception desk or available here.

Teenage Lifestyle Clinics

Younger patients are invited to attend for advice regarding lifestyle (including diet, exercise, smoking and drugs), contraception (if necessary) and immunisation. An appointment will be sent.

Travel Clinic

By appointment.  Advice is given regarding the various vaccinations or medications necessary for your holiday destination. Please check with the nurse at least eight weeks before travel to ensure that all vaccinations are completed in time. A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS. Anti-malarial medication will be prescribed on a private prescription. Research Trials

We are part of the Primary Care Research Network. From time to time, you may be invited to take part in a research study.  You are perfectly at liberty to decline without causing offence or having any effect on your future treatment. Our patients often enjoy the involvement when participating though.

Test Results

Test results may be obtained over the telephone.

Please ring between 2.00 and 5.00pm to speak with a receptionist who will read the health professionals' comments from the screen.

Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or, if they are not capable of understanding the results, these will be released to a parent, guardian or carer.

When you take your test you should be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice. In general we quote 3 days for simple blood tests, 1-3 weeks for complex blood tests, 3-5 days for urine, swabs and faeces tests and a week for x-ray tests.

It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.

Other medical examinations and reports for insurance, employment, sport and other purposes are undertaken.  The current rates can be provided in a leaflet from the reception desk or available here: Private Reports Patient Leaflet.

*If no suction is required after initial assessment then only £20 will be charged. If it is not possible to adequately clear the ear canal during one visit then a complimentary follow-up visit will be offered. As this service may be offered, via a GP, on the NHS to our own fully registered patients we regret that we are unable to take direct bookings for those registered with us.
